Fellowships and observerships

Fellowship
A fellowship can be a valuable opportunity for broadening one’s expertise as a laryngologist. The ELS is currently not handling fellowship applications and does not finance fellowship positions. However, the ELS has defined the essential components of a postgraduate (fellowship) program in the field of laryngology.
On the ELS website you can find information about the curriculum and the listed approved centers.
Currently, one center has been validated by the ELS Board to host fellows in laryngology: it is a joint fellowship that has been successfully completed by three centers in collaboration for a specific applicant: Leiden University Medical Center (Leiden, the Netherlands), Radboud University Medical Center (Nijmegen, the Netherlands), and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust – Charing Cross Hospital (London, UK). Centers interested in becoming certified for this official European training program in laryngology may apply to the Presidential Council of the ELS.

Observership
Whether you are a resident seeking an introduction to the field of laryngology, or an early-career laryngologist looking to gain practical insights and refine your skills, an observership offers valuable learning opportunities for all.
More information about various observership opportunities available through the ELS can be found on the ELS website.

Travel grants
While observerships arranged through the ELS are not funded, applicants may apply for a travel grant to support their participation. The ELS awards up to four travel grants per year, each up to €1500. Read more about Travel grants.
